Wow... one week until training starts. I cannot wait. All the A.D.s are here right now for their training and it's super exciting. I also only have 2 days left in OEE for Spring which is also exciting... 4 day vacation for yours truly!

And... I'm tired, so I think I'm gonna head off to bed.

[ one ] The other day Ted was telling a few of us what states we'd be - Gelb was Washington; Gigi was Mississippi; Courtney was Georgia; and I was Southern California. Haha!

[ two ] Last night I caught the second person this year in the process of passing out. First was sometime in January or Feb. with one of the team members at Target, while she was falling out of a chair and passing out. Last night, it was my housemate Gugich who has pneumonia - she was standing at the counter in the bathroom and tipped over... I just grabbed her arms and lowered her down. Odd. But a story.

[ three ] I seriously cannot wait for the summer. I love a lot of the people here, but some of them I CANNOT stand. At all. But summer! I love 'em all.

[ four ] In the last week I have become enthralled with The Office. I watched all of seasons 1 through 3 in about 3 days and it's hi-effing-larious.

[ five ] I swear to you there was a fifth item, but I seriously can't remember.

14 days until Director's training for the summer starts. My A.D. got here yesterday or the day before and I saw him today which was exciting. He biked from Michigan to here, or most of the way actually. He approximated he rode 1400 miles. Holy crap.

Anyway, I'm super pumped for the summer. There are some very annoying people in OEE..., or really only one really annoying one that bugs the shit out of me sometimes. Summer! Summer! Summer! I can't wait.

Okay, off to watch the sunset.

Wow. Me going to Australia is going to be expensive. At least, at first it will be. It's about $2000 for a round-trip flight (or around $1500 if I'm lucky), plus $180 for a working holiday Visa. On top of that, in order to get a visa I have to have proof of access to "sufficient funds" - which, according to the Australian government, is about $4000 to $5000. Holy shit.

That, and the airfare will most likely be more expensive by the time I actually get it because, one, I don't have the money for it yet and two, part of the requirements for a visa is not arranging travel details until AFTER you are granted the visa. Oh - and you only have a 3 month window to enter Australia after you get the visa. Argh. That means that I would have to apply around the beginning of August.

But I really, really want to do this and so I really, really need to figure out a way to afford it initially. I'm thinking of doing some sort of childcare work down there, and I think it would be an amazing adventure if it all fell into place.

snap crackle pop.

May 7th, 2008 (09:10 pm)

My laptop screen is about to snap off. That really sucks, so I'm using my roommate Jaime's in the meantime.

I really need money.

This weekend should be fun, as I'm going to see Grease, Jr. on Friday with Mum, hopefully meet Jeremy McGrath on Saturday (omfg that would be amazing.) and get my bridesmaid dress altered on Saturday as well. Then Sunday I'm going to do Mother's Day type stuff with Mum and Larly. Woot.

And... that's really it. My head hurts and I'm super tired, so I believe it's off to bed for me.

p.s. I love my job. It's amazing!

i want to be rich.

May 2nd, 2008 (05:57 pm)

When I finally have money again, I need to do three things:

1. Renew my tabs for my car.
2. Pay off my overdraft charge on my credit card.
3. Buy a FlickR Pro account.

Oh, my priorities.

here's the lowdown.

April 28th, 2008 (08:35 am)

I got up this morning at the normal time only to find out that we don't have to meet until 9am. But that's okay, because I got a solid 10 hours of sleep (way better than yesterday's 3). My solution, since I was up uber early and we don't get breakfast this morning, was to go to my favorite place on the island - the Sunflower Cafe - and get breakfast. Then it was off to Teezer's, a coffee place, and I got a latte. Now I'm sitting here in the main room of Osprey waiting to head to work. So far, a good morning.

Saturday was pretty much completely amazing. Larly and I went to Supercross in Seattle for the fourth year and I had so much fun. We met Chad Reed and Nathan Ramsay, and Larly took pictures of me with both of them. Joe went to a lot of effort to get us the pit passes, and then Larly was super patient and waited in a 1.5 hour line just for me so I could meet those two riders. The race was friggin' awesome, too. Last year's was slightly boring because James Stewart had such a huge lead, but Saturday's race was ridiculously amazingly great. Chad Reed went from dead last at the start to 2nd, and Kevin Windham went from first, to stalling, and back to first. I guess you had to be there, but it was AWESOME!!!!!!

I'll definitely for sure post pictures sometime soon.

Last night I was going to post and give you the lowdown on my roommates but I ended up watching Juno and then going to bed at 8:30. So I didn't. But now I feel like doing it, because they are all characters. So if you care to follow me...Collapse )

Anyway, it's about that time and I should get going to work.

woah jazz.

April 19th, 2008 (03:54 pm)

So it's Saturday, but for me it's kind of like my Sunday. I work again tomorrow. Bleurgh, only because that means getting up early. I've gone out for the last two nights in a row and plan to go out again tonight - after all, it's karaoke night at the Lower tonight! Can't miss that. The entire friggin' island comes to it.

This weekend is the first time summer camp overnight here, so that means that about 12 summer staff folks are here (including Matt and Serena!) as well as Lacy and Pullyou. I forget sometimes how hilarious they all are and I love them! I got up at 7:15 this morning to hang out with them and whatever it is that they had to do and ended up spending until like 3 with them. I learned how to play Guitar Hero (Colin Smith brought his Wii here) so now I'm hooked and neeeeeeed to get myself that game.

That, and KT (one of this summer's UD) and I were in charge of organizing the respect skits, I suppose our first tasks as UDs. Fun!

Anyway, I'm just gonna either chill on the couch here in my house or in my bed until about 7, when I have a date with Jacki to go get burgers at the Lower and milkshakes at Vern's. Super pumped about that one. Then we'll meet everyone at the Lower around 9pm. Shall be loads of fun!

More over here.

Finished my first full week as an OEE Instructor today, or at least as an OEE instructor with my own class. It was super fun, especially since it was all 6th graders. They friggin' crack me up, man. I loved them all.

I have the next three days off and then it's a week of projects since we have no schools coming in (because of the WASL). So hopefully I'll get trained on all the high-ropes elements (i.e. belaying) so I can facilitate by myself... and in the summer that'll be even more awesomer 'cause I could run high ropes for my unit without the A-Team. Ohhhhh yeah.

Anywho, I need to go check movie times for Saturday because I'm going home to visit le familia. haha, that was Spanglench. Then it is for sure off to bed for me 'cause I'm pretty much completely exhausted.

April 7th, 2008 (10:41 pm)

For the first time in 5 years (the last time was Piping Hot, 2003), I wrote (and finished writing) a tune. It is yet to be named, but it's a jig and according to Larly it's "jazzy."

I'm pretty much super pumped. I probably played my chanter for upwards of 4 or 5 hours today, including a 30-45 minute stint on my pipes in GBH (kind of the lodge for the cabins I'm currently living in) until my lips gave out.

I effin love the bagpipes.
